During the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic, Pennsylvania small businesses that continue operating during the COVID-19 pandemic are still expected to meet all terms and conditions of their environmental permits including conditions applicable to cessation of operations according to the latest from Pennsylvania DEP's COVID-19 Update website.
Small businesses that have suspended operations, and have done so, may request suspension of a Pennsylvania state regulation or permit condition by completing this form and submitting it to RA-EPCOVID19SuspReq@pa.gov. If requesting the suspension of a federal EPA requirement, small businesses should contact US EPA Region III and refer to a recent EPA memorandum for COVID-19 Implications for EPA's Enforcement and Compliance Assurance Program published on March 26, 2020.
Pennsylvania DEP is continuing to respond to environmental emergencies and environmental compliants. While DEP offices are currently closed, DEP staff are teleworking and continue to review permits and related work. DEP is prioritizing field inspections that deemed critical to public health and safety.
If any Pennsylvania small businesses require environmental assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic, please note that EMAP staff are telecommuting during this time until further notice and can be reached by either emailing firstname.lastname@example.org, leaving a message on the toll-free EMAP environmental hotline at (877) ASK-EMAP, or by emailing EMAP staff.
