Pennsylvania DEP announced a new electronic permit application tool, OnBase-DEP Upload Form, that will now allow small businesses to submit their permit applications online. The tool should allow for faster processing time and are strongly being encouraged to improve the overall efficiency of ther permit application process.
One obvious benefit of the online tool includes helping to control the spread of COVID-19 by allowing both businesses and DEP staff to process applications without having to go into an office or post office. Other benefits include lower costs for applicants and DEP through less use of paper and mailing envelopes and through better overall efficiency of submitting and processing permit applications.
Pennsylvania small businesses can submit permit applications for air quality, waste, and stormwater through the OnBase-DEP Upload Form. Payment for application fees is not part of the tool so applicants will need to submit payment under separate means.
It should be noted that Air Quality Request for Determination applications can still be submitted online through DEP GreenPort.
A guidance document for the new permit appliction tool can be found here and instructions for applicants to submit permit fees can be found here.
EMAP staff is available to assist any Pennsylvania small businesses with preparation of air quality permit applications and can help walkthrough any small businesses in using the OnBase-DEP Upload Form. For further assistance, please contact EMAP at firstname.lastname@example.org.
